What's it About?:[]

The purpose of this bill is to define "cemetery merchandise", "declarant", "declaration", "designee", "funeral", and "funeral merchandise". In addition, this bill also allows for a person to prepare and pay for their after-death plans, and to create a declaration that would make sure that their wishes are fulfilled after death.

Politics of this Legislation[]

Pros:

This bill would allow people to prepare their own funeral plans, without the worry that their plans won't be respected following their death.

This bill will also give ease to the funeral director. When a family member changes the pre-paid funeral wishes after the person died, the funeral director is required to give the money back, even if it was already used. This would make sure that funeral directors won't run into financial trouble due to unexpected funeral changes.

Cons:

None

Amendments:[]

Sub-Committee Substitute (SCS): requires the declarant, or agent of the declarant, to disclose any implants to the crematory officials, prior to cremation.
